The Flatwoods Volunteer Fire Department would like the send out a huge THANK YOU for the following people’s help on the wildland forest fire earlier this week. They are: Circle H BBQ for the meals brought on Monday and Tuesday; for the Galloway Methodist Church for the meals and opening their fellowship hall for the meals; Rancho Grande for the meal on Wednesday; the Texas A&M Forest Service and the TIFMAS (Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System); the DeSoto Parish Fire Department District No. 1 in Logansport; Constable Jeff Ivy and Constable Brack LaGrone; the Panola County Sheriff Office for evacuation and traffic control; Rusty Evans of the Carthage Fire Department for water; LaGrone A/C for keeping us cool in the meeting room; TxDOT; Panola County Precinct 4 for diesel at the scene; and the surrounding communities for the ice, food, gatorade and water. We are very appreciative and proud of all the work our volunteers have done keeping our community safe. A very special THANK YOU to the Panola County Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Coordinator Bryan Murff. Bryan was there all evening and night on Sunday into Monday and has been there each day since and was instrumental in getting the TIFMAS involved; which was needed to contain the fire.
